With a background in Boston area educational leadership, Ligia Noriega-Murphy guides investment strategy with EM Contracting. Previously, Ligia Noriega-Murphy spent three years as superintendent of Malden Public Schools, overseeing operations and outcomes for 6,500 students, seven schools, and 600 staff members. Her accomplishments included implementing targeted literacy initiatives that boosted reading scores. She also established second language classes for caregivers to increase academic success and family engagement.

From 2019 to 2021, Ms. Noriega-Murphy served as assistant superintendent on assignment at Jackson Mann K-8 School in the Boston Public Schools. Seeking to ease learning gaps and maintain educational continuity during the pandemic, she boosted student proficiency through online numeracy and literacy intervention programs. She guided daily virtual teaching operations and ensured the seamless delivery of curriculum elements.

In addition, her background includes several years as a Spanish teacher. In the mid-1990s, she served as a world languages instructor at the Donald McKay Middle School within the BPS. Ms. Noriega-Murphy developed a standards-based curriculum while teaching Spanish to sixth- to eighth-grade students and implementing results-focused discipline protocols. She also served as an after-school TEAM program coordinator with Boston Children Services during this time.
